Python CLI
Python library + CLI, with a small TUI for tree navigation.
Loom-assisted writing.

loom show --lineage
Print a node's whole lineage, root first, one panel per node.
Split nodes
Short nodes left by splitting a text at chosen points.
Outputs, three combinations
The same input run at temperature 1.2, 1.5 and 1.8 on Llama 3.1 405B, two completions each.
Parameters per combination

Ranges on the command line
--temperature "0.8~2*0.2" --min-p "0.1,0.4": a range and a list.
Combinations
The loom expands them into 14 combinations and runs each in turn.
First output
Combination 1 of 14, with its parameters above it.

Two renders from August 2024. Left: a node's lineage, and one input run at three temperatures. Right: a temperature range and a min_p list expanded into fourteen runs.

React app exploring various desktop + mobile patterns for base model interaction.

Breadcrumbs
Traversable path to the focused node.
Tree
Nested nodes, each with its id; the focused node is highlighted.
Context
The focused node's full text from the root, with each node's span marked.
Children
Continuations of the focused node.

Split at the cursor, then run from the original node. On a phone, the context panel becomes a drawer that also moves through the tree.

Voyage is a brand new platform by Latitude (the creator of AI Dungeon), and contains several brand new games. This video I go over the brand new games introduced in Voyager which has just entered it's Open Beta.
Replying to
- generate a continuation as node underneath its parent node
- reroll / mu a node to attach a new possible child to its parent
- navigate / interact w prior branches
- (optionally) insert their own text into the tree
- (ideally) merge nodes together, but you can also do this outside the tool
ofc this is most straightforwardly implemented by something like loomsidian, but the chatgpt interface is also loom-complete, or at least used to be, if awkwardly (you can regenerate, you can use the little arrows to navigate between versions, you can speak, you can edit your own messages and use the arrows there as well), though fork points are limited to message boundaries which isn't ideal
claude code likewise with message editing, checkpointing, and session resumption can be whacked into the same shape
even something like git can be conceptualized as a loom for software, where (at least until recently) the token generating process was a human, not a model. but same general idea. it's about navigating over and manipulating a tree of possible futures. this is ofc a very useful concept for language models!
I wanna return to this but this also reminds me to revisit Lillian Yvonne-Bertram and Nick Montfort’s Fall 2024? Spring 2025? Memory Slam workshop @ CMU that had some loom-like demos

hhhh "whacked into the same shape" idk i chuckled at this
@leslie-liu
comment first view?!
hmmm
